2020 June Fete Fair
After careful consideration, it is with heavy hearts that we, the Abington Health Foundation Women’s Board and Auxiliaries, announce the decision to cancel the 2020 June Fete Fair. We recognize that the fair is an annual event that our community members look forward to year after year. However, we feel that this is the safest and most appropriate decision given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements.
The June Fete Fair has been held for 107 years and this is only the third time in the fair’s history that it has been canceled. The first two times were during World War II, in 1943 and 1944. Our archives state that when it was canceled due to the war, an “imaginary fair” was held, raising $38,000—a significant sum at that time.
A fun family event, the June Fete fair offers something for everyone—rides, live entertainment, games, music, shopping, food, the Horse & Pony show, and more. The fair also serves as a significant fundraiser for Abington – Jefferson Health. We are grateful for the support of our loyal fairgoers, community members, and neighbors who attend year after year.
Since we cannot host the fair this year, we hope you will consider making a donation to Abington – Jefferson Health’s Meg McGoldrick Better Together Fund for Employee Assistance in lieu of attending the fair. The fund supports Abington – Jefferson Health employees facing unexpected financial hardship. No donation is too small, and all donations are appreciated during this difficult and unprecedented time.
Donations are accepted online. When you make a donation, we ask that you share a brief message—it can be a favorite memory from the fair or simply a special reason for your donation. This message will be written on a virtual tile and shared on the Fair Memory Wall.
Thank you in advance for your support.
We hope you will join us in person at next year’s June Fete Fair on June 11, 12, and 13, 2021!
